Joint United Nations project “Peer Mentoring Program for promotion of human rights, gender equality and increased youth participation in Serbia” is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic and implemented jointly by UNFPA and UN Women in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Youth of the Republic of Serbia.

"The success of the #MLADIGOVORE project in Serbia has been truly inspiring, showcasing the immense potential of our youth to shape a more inclusive and equitable society. By leaving no one behind and targeting the most vulnerable, we have witnessed the transformative power of youth engagement and their determination to create positive change. As we wrap up this project, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower young people, amplify their voices, and address the challenges they face, ensuring a brighter future for all", said Francoise Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia.

"Italy acknowledges the importance of providing opportunities for all youngsters to reach their full potential as skilled, creative, and resilient people. We recognize the key role of youth in defining the pace and direction of development, reshaping the values and social norms,” stated H.E. Luca Gori, Ambassador of Italy to Serbia.

“Encouraging youth activism and engaging young people in decision-making processes carry particular weight in local communities. The Ministry of Tourism and Youth supports programs and projects that promote solidarity, understanding, tolerance, gender equality, and the principles of an inclusive society. Through collaboration with UN agencies and the implementation of projects in small local environments, as well as direct engagement with young people, we believe that significant results are being achieved. Such projects contribute to creating adequate and encouraging conditions for the quality of life of young people, their equal, active, and organized participation, action, and the development of potential that contributes to personal and societal well-being”, Ivana Antonijević, Assistant Minister for Tourism and Youth.

Throughout the year, members of the UN Youth Advisory Group, have been supporting their peers in Kragujevac, Sremski Karlovci, Sombor, Novi Pazar, Knjazevac and Bajina Basta. to create and implement initiatives to increase youth participation, promote human rights, and create space for social engagement of youth at the local level.
