Šid, Serbia – Health Center in Sid today received mobile clinic donated by United Nations Population Fund, Country Office in Serbia. Keys were cordially awarded to the Director of HC Sid, Dr Krsto Kures, by Dr Vesna Knjeginjic, Assistant Minister at Ministry of Health,  Dr Doina Bologa, UNFPA Country Director for Serbia, and Ms. Irena Vojačkova Sollorano, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia.

According to Ms. Irena Vojačkova Sollorano, 13% of refugees and migrants are women who are at increased risk of violence and have difficulties to protect their reproductive health. Problems associated with sexual and reproductive health are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women globally, especially in humanitarian settings when access to health care services is limited.

“Assisiting public health sector and state organs to achive human rights and protect sexual and reproductive health is at the core of UNFPA’s mandate. We are proud to contribute to the refugee response in the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, and assist these women and girls on their way through Serbia, and in accordance with mandate of UNFPA“ stated Dr Doina Bologa, UNFPA Country Director for Serbia.

In addition to the mobile clinic donated to HC Sid, UNFPA procured another mobile clinic for HC Vranje, as well as gyneacological examination tables and ultrasounds for HC in Presevo, Dimitrovgrad, Bosilegrad, Sid, Vranje and Belgrade.

“UNFPA donation is a good example of successful cooperation of the MoH and international organizations to increase the quality of health care services. This donation for Sid, but also other donations provided by UNFPA, are particularly important in current migrant crisis.  We are assured that these donations will help us to achieve greater quality of preventive and health care programs at local level for women living or transiting Serbia, “added Assistant Minister, Dr Vesna Knjeginjic.Šid, 11 December 2015 – Health Center in Sid today received mobile clinic donated by United Nations Population Fund, Country Office in Serbia.
